4 suspected car thieves killed in Cagayan clash

At least four suspected carjackers were killed following an encounter with police after they took the sport-utility vehicle of a Commission on Audit official in Cagayan province Sunday. The four, who were not immediately identified, allegedly engaged police in a shootout in Alcala town in Cagayan, radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr. reported early Monday. Police said the carjacking occurred at 9 a.m. Sunday in San Gabriel village in Tuguegarao City, when the suspects took the Isuzu Sportivo of COA supervising auditor Juanito Ilagan. A follow-up operation led police to the suspects in Tupang village in Alcala town, where the suspects allegedly fired at the lawmen. The lawmen fired back, killing the four. — RSJ, GMA News
