Manila city govt seeks residents' help vs botcha

Manila city officials asked residents to help them go after botcha (tainted) meat, after yet another batch of tainted pork was discovered at the city's Divisoria Market over the weekend. Mayor Alfredo Lim said they need to be more aggressive against those behind the tainted meat as they continue to defy authorities, radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported. Lim particularly asked meat buyers to inform authorities soonest if they suspect meat being sold in markets is tainted. He said they expect dealers of the tainted meat to take advantage of the increased demand for meat as the Christmas season draws closer.

On Sunday, authorities discovered 250 kilos of tainted meat dumped near the Divisoria market. The meat was already foul-smelling and flaky, the report said. But authorities still failed to catch who was behind the latest shipment of tainted meat in Manila. A separate report on dzXL radio said the meat was covered by sacks but inspection teams still noticed it because of its foul smell. — RSJ, GMA News
