DFA: 36 more OFWs from Syria due home Tuesday, Wednesday


A total of 36 overseas Filipino workers who availed of voluntary repatriation from Syria are due home Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon. The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said the two batches are due at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported. Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Raul Hernandez said the first batch is due home at 11 p.m. Tuesday, while the second batch is expected to return home at 4 p.m. Wednesday. Hernandez said DFA and OWWA officials will meet the returning OFWs upon their arrival, the report said. At least 102 OFWs have returned from Syria since the Philippine government raised the alert level there to "3." Crisis alert level 3 entails voluntary repatriation. — RSJ, GMA News
