Shamcey spoof answers Miss U query in bekimon

Less than seven hours after the Philippine candidate Shamcey Supsup won third runner-up in the Miss Universe beauty pageant, a group of Filipinos instantly came up with a “becky" version of the contest’s question-and-answer portion. In the spoof uploaded by Youtube user “beckynights," Supsup’s impersonator answered the same question that the candidate got in the beauty tilt. “Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person you love?" asked the judge named Bibingka Pakk.

A translator, who spoke in “bekimon" or gay lingo, aided Supsup’s impersonator in answering Bibingka Pakk’s question. The candidate’s spoof version responded in bekimon as well, drawing laughter from the video viewers based on the comments it has generated so far. Get a load of the spoofed Q&A here. It was American actress Vivica A. Fox who asked Supsup the original question during the pageant. Supsup answered, “If I would have to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love. Because the first person that I love is God, who created me." Evolving Pinoy lingo “Bekimon" comes from the words “becky or beki," or gay lingo for “bakla" or young gays, and “jejemon," the strange text and Internet language that has gained widespread use among Filipino netizens and texters, said GMA News Online contributor John Iremil Teodoro in a 2010 article. This gay lingo points to the evolution of the Filipino language, said a special report on GMA News’ “Saksi" newscast late last month.

In fact nagkakaroon sila ng sarili nilang little language," said National Artist for Literature Virgilio Almario in an interview on “Saksi." “Habang ginagamit ang wika sa iba’t ibang paraan, magkakaroon ito ng kaukulang pagbabago," he added. — VS, GMA News
