11 hurt in Quezon City road accident

At least 11 people, including a pregnant woman, were reported injured after two passenger buses figured in an accident in Quezon City Tuesday night. All the victims were taken to the East Avenue Medical Center following the accident along Quezon Avenue, radio dzBB reported Wednesday. Citing initial reports from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, the dzBB report said the buses in the accident included a Malanday Metro Line bus (TWH-251) driven by one Molina; and a Baclaran Metro Line bus driven by one Delos Santos. An initial investigation showed the Malanday bus hit the rear of the Baclaran Metro Line bus. Investigators are looking into the cause of the accident. The report said Molina may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries. Meanwhile, traffic along a part of the northbound lane of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) was snarled before dawn Wednesday following a three-vehicle smashup. A report by dzBB's Allan Gatus said the incident before 6 a.m. involved a taxi, a tractor head, and an "ALPS" provincial bus. Investigators are verifying information that the bus' brakes failed and caused the bus to hit the truck and taxi. But an MMDA traffic enforcer said the bus driver may have been at fault because the bus entered a yellow lane, which is prohibited. — RSJ, GMA News
