For the latest Philippine news stories and videos, visit GMANews.TV Dindo Pumaren has resigned as head coach of the De La Salle Green Archers ending his two-season reign as mentor of the men's basketball team. A statement from the university's Office of Sports Development confirmed the resignation of Pumaren and his coaching staff effective September 11, 2011. According to the statement, De La Salle University has accepted their resignations with deep regret. "To chart the direction of the Men's Basketball Team, the University has formed a basketball program review committee and is chaired by DLSU Vice Chancellor for Lasallian Mission and Alumni Relations Br. Bernard S. Oca FSC," the statement said. A former Archer in the '80s, Dindo replaced his older brother Franz in 2010, when he steered the team to a Final Four appearance. But this season, the Green Archers failed to return to the finals as the team could only muster five wins out of the 14 games. Pumaren guided the UE Red Warriors to the finals in 2007 after sweeping the eliminations only to lose the title to DLSU. - Reuben Terrado/OMG, GMA News
