Phivolcs: Magnitude-5.1 quake hits Ilocos area


A magnitude-5.1 quake hit the Ilocos area in Northern Luzon Friday night, with state seismologists warning of possible aftershocks. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake was recorded at 7:52 p.m. and was tectonic in origin. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter was traced to 146 km northwest of Vigan in Ilocos Sur. However, it did not immediately cite specific areas where the quake was felt.
