MMDA: Heavy traffic in Ateneo area due to entrance exams

Motorists and commuters could expect heavy traffic around the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City during the weekend due to the entrance exams there. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) advised the public to brace for “big traffic" at the Katipunan area, where the university is located. “Ateneo entrance exams will be held this weekend. Additional mobile units deployed to the area but expect one big traffic there," it said in a Twitter advisory. It said that as of 6:01 a.m., traffic at the Katipunan Area "is starting to build up," ranging from "moderate to heavy." Last September 7, the MMDA also deployed motorcycle and mobile units to eastern Metro Manila area due to heavy traffic created by the early dismissal of students at La Salle Greenhills and Poveda School during their exam week. The MMDA also had to shrug off tweeted claims at the time that it was giving students of the two schools special treatment. In its Twitter account, the MMDA said it had to deploy additional motorcycles and mobile units to the area to assist traffic enforcers. — LBG, GMA News
