Monsoon trough may cause flash floods in WLuzon
A monsoon trough may trigger flash floods and landslides in the western section of Luzon in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 5 p.m. bulletin Saturday. PAGASA pointed out there was no cyclone inside Philippine territory as of Saturday afternoon although rain fell on parts of Metro Manila. It added that the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. State weather forecasters also said they are still monitoring tropical storm Roke, which is just outside the northern edge of the Philippine area of responsibility. "Roke" would be codenamed "Onyok" once it re-enters Philippine territory. PAGASA also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon, where coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate, blowing from the south to southwest with slight to moderate seas. — ELR, GMA News
