VP Binay's website defaced anew

In what may have become a sad routine, the Office of the Vice President was hacked anew Sunday, with the attackers redirecting users to a third-party site. Visitors to the OVP website (www.ovp.gov.ph) were greeted with a popup message "hoi hoi hoi Miho!" that took them to the third-party page when they clicked on it.

".::HaCkeD By PrivateX InfoSec::. ... This site has been hacked by PrivateX InfoSec," said the message at the redirected page. It claimed to support the AntiSec movement of hacktivist group Anonymous and Lulz Security, adding no data was taken off the attacked site's servers. An image of a hacker wearing a Guy Fawkes mask – a trademark of Anonymous – was posted on the redirected page. This was not the first time PrivateX attacked the OVP website. It had done so several times since June. PrivateX in its previous hacks had pointed out "weaknesses" in the site's security. The past hack attacks would involve defacements of the site, with the contents being altered or with visitors being redirected to a different site. On the other hand, the OVP website had just been newly restored, after an incident last September 8 where visitors to the site were shown several online games. After the September 8 incident, the OVP temporarily redirected visitors to the Facebook page of Vice President Jejomar Binay. — LBG, GMA News
