PNoy meets with Shamcey before leaving for US

President Benigno Aquino III met briefly with Miss Universe third runner-up Shamcey Supsup before departing for a visit to the United States Sunday night. Aquino and Supsup met at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport VIP lounge before Aquino’s 10 p.m. flight for the US, radio dzBB’s Tuesday Niu reported early Monday. The report said Aquino thanked Supsup for showing the best of the Philippines during the beauty pageant. Members of Aquino’s Cabinet and political allies who arrived at the airport had photos taken with Supsup, according to a separate report by radio dzBB’s Paulo Santos Sunday night. Among Aquino’s Cabinet members and allies who arrived earlier at the NAIA were Transportation Secretary Manuel Roxas II, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Francis Tolentino, Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman, and Sen. Franklin Drilon.

The report said Supsup arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport shortly after 9 p.m. and waited for Aquino. Earlier, presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said Aquino and Supsup were to meet shortly before Aquino leaves for the US. Supsup arrived in the country early Sunday, less than a week after finishing fourth in this year’s prestigious beauty pageant. — RSJ, GMA News
