Bolt Cutter Gang member killed in Cavite

A member of the so-called "Bolt Cutter Gang" was killed in a predawn encounter with the police in Trece Martires City in Cavite province Monday. In an interview over radio dzBB, Chief Inspector Gil Torralba of the Cavite Provincial Intelligence Office said the encounter occurred at 4:00 a.m. while the gang was attacking a tire supply shop. Hugo Perez," Torralba said. He said they are still trying to identify the slain gang member. Torralba said the Bolt Cutter Gang, notorious for using bolt cutters to destroy padlocks, had been linked to some robberies in the area. The initial investigation showed that the gang had cut the padlock at the tire supply outlet but had not yet entered the shop. None of the police personnel in the encounter was injured, he said. - VVP, GMA News
