MMDA urges passengers to take alternate routes going to NAIA

Passengers catching flights at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were advised Monday noon to take alternate routes going to the airport. On its Twitter account, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said the emergency works of water concessionaire Maynilad were causing heavy traffic near the airport. "Those heading to the airports should avoid taking Tramo Ave. Heavy traffic due to emergency Maynilad works," the MMDA said. Motorists and commuters passing through the area should expect traffic buildup at the approach to the area, it added. Cebu Pacific advisory Air carrier Cebu Pacific also advised travelers with flights to catch to use alternative routes heading to NAIA. "If you're going to Terminal 3, please pass through SLEX/C5 instead of EDSA/Tramo due to a major road construction in the area," it said. Leak repair Earlier on Monday, Maynilad said it was conducting an emergency leak repair on one of its busted pipes. Maynilad Water spokesperson Grace Laxa said the affected pipe was along a portion of Andrews Avenue in Pasay City. Laxa said the busted pipe will affect water service in the city's Malibay district. She said Maynilad has sent water tankers to help affected customers. She noted that the emergency repair work may slow down traffic at Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA)-Magallanes to Andrews Avenue. "Humihingi kami ng paumanhin sa dulot na abala at sinisiguro namin sa publiko at apektadong customer na ginagawa namin ang lahat upang mabilis ang aming trabaho sa nasabing area," Laxa said in an interview on dzBB radio. - VVP, GMA News
