Shamcey visits Makati alma mater, named outstanding citizen


Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup was feted in Makati City as she visited her alma mater there Monday afternoon. Supsup received the “Gawad Lakan Tagkan," the city’s highest award of merit, during her visit to the Makati High School, radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported. “We regard Ms. Shamcey Supsup as a worthy recipient of the Gawad Lakan Tagkan for she is truly an inspiration to the Filipino youth. She is a wellspring of wisdom and experience, and an outstanding model to all Filipinos and other citizens of the world," Mayor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. said. The dzBB report quoted Supsup as telling the students at the Makati High School that they are lucky to have free education in the city. Supsup's parade started at the Araneta Coliseum area in Quezon City and proceeded to the University of the Philippines before going to Makati City. Supsup graduated salutatorian of her batch at Makati High School in 2003 and was an active member of their Supreme Student Council. She was also sent to Japan as an exchange scholar student for the school year 2001-2002 and had been the school representative in various leadership seminars. Following the Makati leg of her parade, her motorcade was to return to the Araneta Coliseum area. - KBK, GMA News
