Report: 6 bolt Misamis Or jail; 2 recaptured


Six inmates bolted the Misamis Oriental Provincial Jail before dawn Tuesday, even as authorities have managed to recapture at least two of them. The inmates managed to bore a hole in the ceiling of the jail, according to a report on dzXL radio Tuesday morning. An initial investigation showed the jailbreak occurred about 2 a.m., with the inmates facing charges of robbery, murder, carjacking, frustrated murder, homicide and qualified theft. A police report said the inmates escaped by destroying the ceiling and roof of their detention cell. Recaptured were two inmates initially identified as Roberto Monterola and Rey Boy Tamaranos. A separate report on Bombo Radyo said jail warden Dominador Tagarda identified the inmates who remain unaccounted for as of posting time as:

  • Richard Tabora (carnapping with threats)
  • Jeffrey Jandaya (robbery with rape)
  • Johnny Bataluna (murder)
