Some Facebook users change language settings to return to 'old' FB

Facebook users who prefer the familiar and former look of their social networking account have found a way to switch back from the new features introduced to the site Wednesday. Some discovered that by going to their account settings and choosing “English (UK)" or some language other than American English, their Facebook homepages returned to the old look before the latest upgrades. “Starting today, it will be easier to keep up with the people in your life no matter how frequently or infrequently you're on Facebook," said Mark Tonkelowitz, Facebook engineering manager, in a blog post. Facebook chat now has a real-time ticker showing what friends are doing at the moment on the site. A News Feed section upgrade is an upside-down triangular earmark for ‘Top Story’ items, which Facebook deems interesting to its members. “All your news will be in a single stream with the most interesting stories featured at the top. If you haven't visited Facebook for a while, the first things you'll see are top photos and statuses posted while you've been away. They're marked with an easy-to-spot blue corner," Tonkelowitz explained. “We hope these improvements make your conversations on Facebook more lively, no matter how often you visit," the Facebook engineer said. However, some users did not like the latest upgrades. On GMA News’ Facebook page, Amy Lee said, “I hate it. It sucks bigtime." Katrina Banta asked, “Why did they have to change it in the first place?" Nieva Gatchalian said switching language settings to UK English “worked just this afternoon. But when I checked my news feed (on FB mobile) again it seemed that the UK settings has begun to follow suit." Rey Baldovino “likes the new settings." Sheng Barrey Bansanas commented, “I'm used to it. It's like Twitter. Not bad." — ELR/VS, GMA News
