82-year-old Pinay exec looking for former teacher to say thanks
Although she is already 82 years old, a Filipina executive of a publishing company wants to find her former high school teacher to say thanks. According to a news release on the Department of Education (DepEd) website, Teresa Alvina is looking for her former teacher â Carmen Geronimo Pascual, her former high school Home Economics teacher. âAny information that will lead me to her will be much appreciated," Alvina said. âTime is of the essence. I am now 82 and a 1948 graduate of V. Mapa High School. The act of thanking my former teacher Mrs. Carmen Geronimo-Pascual stands to be realized, 63 years belatedly," Alvina said. All that Alvina knows is that Geronimo retired from service in 1980. Alvina's search for her teacher began even before DepEd launched a campaign for pupils to show their gratitude to their teacher. According to Alvina, she visited her school, talked with the current principal, and even dug into her teacher's government records. âBut all ended up in a dead end," she wrote. On why she is searching for her former teacher, Alvina said, âMaybe all I want is closure. I want to know what happened to her even from her family, friends or co-teachers." âFor me, it is very important to be able to say thank you now," Alvina said. The DepEd proclaimed September as National Teachersâ Month. The celebration will end on October 5. - VVP, GMA News
