Law expert is new PHL honorary consul to Dresden, Germany

A legal eagle from a prestigious law firm has been designated as the Philippines' Honorary Consul to Dresden, Germany. The Philippine Embassy in Berlin said new envoy Hartmut Fromm took his oath before Philippine Ambassador Maria Cleofe Natividad. The Dresden honorary consulate will be formally opened to the public in the last quarter of 2011. Fromm joins the team of Philippine Honorary Consuls in Germany, who include:

  • Prof. Dr. Gerhard Zeidler for Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland Palatinate and Saarland;
  • Eckbert von Bohlen und Halbach for Bavaria; and
  • Heinz-Peter Heidrich for North-Rhine-Westphalia. "Mr. Fromm will be the newest member of Team Philippines Germany, and will have consular jurisdiction over the states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia," the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. "Fromm is one of the names behind the well-known Buse Heberer Fromm corporate law firm. Clients of the law firm include the publishing company Bertelsmann, the Swarowski Group and the Berlin-based porcelain maker Koenigliche Porzellan Manufaktur," the DFA said. Fromm is also a published expert in the fields of law and business. He is also a patron of the arts and culture, being an active sponsor of Berlin's three opera houses as well as the treasurer of the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum. In her congratulatory toast and remarks following the oath-taking, Natividad warmly welcomed Fromm to his new "Philippine family." "(She) asked him to look after the interests of Filipinos, and promote Philippine-German economic relations in his area of jurisdiction," the DFA said. - VVP, GMA News
