Apple loans iPads 'library-style' to retail employees

Apple Inc. is now testing a new program allowing its retail employees to borrow iPad tablets like books from a library. Tech site CNET cited a source who described the program as a pilot, that would let employees borrow from a stock of loaner devices. "Employees can then use the device freely for one week before having to return it to the store, allowing for others to use it," it said. But for now, the program applies only at Apple's flagship store in San Francisco. There is no clear indication Apple will extend the program to other stores, it added. CNET said an Apple spokesman declined to comment on, or even verify the existence of the program. However, the CNET article suggested the new program may help salespeople get to know the products better. — TJD, GMA News
