Updated WordPress iOS app upgrades text editing features

Bloggers using WordPress may now be able to do better editing work on their iOS devices such as iPhones and iPads, after WordPress updated its app for iOS. The open-source WordPress for iOS (version 2.9), which was released September 23, works with WordPress 2.9.2 or higher, and is available as a 4.2-mb download from Apple’s App Store. “It’s easy to manage your WordPress blog or site from your iOS device. With WordPress for iOS, you can moderate comments, create or edit posts and pages, and add images or videos with ease. All you need is a WordPress.com blog or a self-hosted WordPress.org site running 2.9.2 or higher," read the description in the App Store. Languages supported by the updated app include English, Bokmål, Norwegian, Chinese, Croatian, Dutch, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish. The app is compatible with Apple’s iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, and requires iOS 4.0 or later. A separate article on The Next Web said the new app is a much-needed boost since its predecessor’s text editing interface was “a bit anemic." It said this latest version includes extensive upgrades to the text editor, including direct formatting buttons for links, lists and more. There is also now a “full-screen" editing mode that mimics the way that Mail.app works. WordPress has also added a browser that allows a user to follow commenting links etc without having you bounce out of the app, which is a great improvement to workflow. “So it’s nice to see WordPress taking iOS devices more seriously and upping its game on this latest version. If you’ve previously attempted to work with the app on your iDevice, definitely give this latest version a go, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised," it said. — TJD, GMA News
