PHL 'discovery box' unveiled in Korean museum
A Philippine Discovery Box, a mobile museum showcasing Philippine culture, was launched in Korea last September 20, the Philippine Embassy in Seoul reported over the weekend. The Embassy hinted more versions of the box, its joint brainchild with the National Folk Museum of Korea Childrenâs Museum, may be developed soon. âThe discovery box contains materials on Philippine history, traditions, festivals, cuisine, costumes, songs, dances, architecture, lifestyle and contemporary pop culture," the Department of Foreign Affairs said. It also features picture books and animation of Filipino folk tales, and music videos of Filipino childrenâs songs and dances performed and recorded by Filipino students. According to the DFA, the discovery boxes will be made available on loan to Korean schools, multi-cultural institutions, and libraries conducting Philippine culture classes and workshops. The Embassy also voiced support for Koreaâs drive to become a multicultural society. âWith the continuous cooperation from the Korean government, and such is the case of the Childrenâs Museum of the National Folk Museum, the Embassy is able to provide a window on the Philippine culture to children and all Korean people," the DFA said. â LBG, GMA News
