Bangko Sentral sees Sept. inflation ranging from 3.8%-4.8%

September inflation is likely to settle below the central bank’s upper range target of 3 percent to 5 percent this year, largely influenced by food prices and the peso-dollar exchange rate, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said Monday. BSP Gov. Amando Tetangco Jr. said in a text message to reporters that inflation would range between 3.8 percent and 4.8 percent this September. "Prices of vegetables and canned goods, and the peso's movements appear to be the dominant price factors this month," Tetangco said. Inflation eased to a four-month low of 4.3 percent in August from 4.6 percent in July, settling at an eight-month averaged of 4.3 percent from 4.2 percent a year earlier. — VS, GMA News
