MMDA suspends number coding Tuesday

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Tuesday suspended its number coding scheme for Tuesday amid bad weather conditions from Typhoon Pedring (Nesat). In an announcement on its Twitter account, the MMDA said the coding scheme was lifted for the day. "Number Coding Scheme is lifted today (9-27-2011) in Metro Manila due to typhoon Pedring, including Las Piñas and Makati," it said. Under the number coding scheme, vehicles with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 would be barred from major thoroughfares from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Monday, the MMDA decided not to lift the number coding scheme despite worsening weather conditions at the time. — RSJ, GMA News
