PAL: Flights to resume at 6 p.m. Tuesday

After canceling many of its flights for the day due to a work stoppage by its ground crew, flag carrier Philippine Airlines will resume its flights at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Members of PAL's ground crew union walked out of their posts at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 early Tuesday.
In an advisory on its Twitter account, PAL said the resumption of flights will begin with one heading for Iloilo province. "FLIGHT ADVISORY: PAL flights to resume at 6 p.m. onwards (27Sep) beginning with PR145 to Iloilo," it said. Earlier, members of PAL's ground crew union walked out of their posts at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2. PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said PAL management is mulling legal action against those who took part in the stoppage. But PAL Employees Association president Gerry Rivera said they plan to sustain the stoppage, which is in protest of PAL's outsourcing of non-core businesses starting October 1. Meanwhile, a report by radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen said passengers affected by Tuesday morning's stoppage remained worried over their baggage, which they checked in before the work stoppage started. The report also said airport police tightened security at the NAIA to prevent untoward incidents. — RSJ, GMA News
