Power back in typhoon-hit Meralco circuits

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said that as of 2 a.m. Wednesday it has restored power to 94.50 percent of its Typhoon "Pedring" affected circuits. In a stream of messages on its official Twitter account, Meralco also advised its customers to provide their service identification numbers, contact details, and identify the nearest landmark of sites where power has not yet been restored or where there are problems needing immediate attention.

Dina Lomotan, Meralco spokesperson, said Tuesday that many areas in Metro Manila and nearby provinces of Cavite, Batangas, Bulacan lost electric power as strong winds damaged power lines and uprooted dozens of trees. Lomotan said about 1.9 million or “almost close to half" of Meralco’s customers were left without power as Typhoon “Pedring" swept across Luzon. — ELR, GMA News
