MMDA to motorists: Number coding in effect

After suspending it Tuesday due to Typhoon Pedring (Nesat), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority on Wednesday reminded motorists that the number coding scheme is back in place. On its Twitter account, the MMDA replied to several queries that vehicles with plate numbers ending in 5 and 6 are banned from major thoroughfares from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. "ADVISORY: Number Coding is implemented today, September 28, 2011," it said. On Tuesday, the MMDA suspended the number coding scheme, citing the inclement weather conditions brought by Pedring. Pedring battered parts of Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon Tuesday, leaving at least 18 people dead. — RSJ, GMA News
