Nueva Ecija's low-lying areas still flooded

Parts of Nueva Ecija province remained flooded Wednesday, according to senior police official. In some areas, floodwaters surged into many houses, forcing residents and their livestock to retreat to their roofs or the upper floors of their houses. Police Senior Superintendent Roberto Aliggayu said although floodwaters have been receding in the province’s elevated areas, low-lying zones were still submerged
Aliggayu said the Pantabangan dam did not cause the floods, adding that as of 8 a.m. Wednesday, the water level was only at 204 meters while the spilling mark is at 221 meters. “Talagang sa dami ng ulan ni Pedring, talagang masa-saturate ang lupa," he said.
As of Wednesday evening, only big trucks and buses were able to pass through Nueva Ecija’s major roads. — BC/ELR, GMA News
