75,000 MRT passengers to get free tickets Friday

To mark the 15th year of a British insurer in the Philippines, 75,000 passengers of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) will get free tickets Friday, the company PruLife UK said. PruLife UK, the country’s only British insurer, said it will distribute free tickets at the MRT’s Taft, Ayala, Shaw, Cubao, and North EDSA stations. The company has allocations for both morning and afternoon commuters, and will give away tickets “until supplies last," PruLife UK added in a statement. “Public transportation, especially the MRT, holds a significant role in our urban lives. As we celebrate 15 years of service, we wanted to do something that would make us reach not just our policy holders but the public in general," PruLife UK president and CEO Antonio de Rosas said. PruLife UK began operating in 1996, and calls itself “a powerhouse in the Philippine insurance industry today." The company's promo comes at a time when the MRT is set to undergo a fare increase, which the Palace considers fair and necessary. — PE/VS, GMA News
