3 men take P1.3M in Cubao payroll heist

At least three armed men took some P1.3 million in payroll money from a recruitment agency office in Quezon City early Friday. Police investigators suspect an inside job in the robbery that took place shortly after 7 a.m., according to a report by radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad. The men struck at the Job-On-Link Recruitment Agency at Rooms 301 and 302 of the Uni Building in Cubao at about 7 a.m., the report said. Romualdo Villagonzalo, the firm's liaison officer, said two men followed him and the firm's accounting officer, a certain Arcala, into the office. He said they thought at first that the two men were job applicants. But once inside the office, the two men poked firearms at him and Arcala, while a third suspect with a high-powered firearm served as lookout. The report quoted Villagonzalo as saying the men demanded the payroll, prompting him to suspect a possible inside job. Villagonzalo said he and Arcala at first tried to fight back when the men took the bag containing the P1.3 million, but stopped resisting after the men threatened to kill them. The dzBB report quoted Arcala as saying it is also possible there was an inside job of sorts involved, as the company recently fired two employees. — LBG, GMA News
