MMDA: Road reblocking in NCR to resume 10:00 p.m. Friday

Starting at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, road reblocking activities will resume along major thoroughfares in Metro Manila, including Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA). The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the reblocking may continue after it lifted a one-month moratorium on such works. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), utility firms, and their contractors are the groups conducting road re-blocking activities in the National Capital Region. Tolentino said MMDA's Memorandum Circular No. 16 had suspended public works in Metro Manila because of the typhoons forecast to hit the country in September. Requirements for contractors MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino reminded contractors to abide by MMDA's conditions to prevent road works from impeding the flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. He said contractors are only allowed to start working at 10:00 p.m. Friday and end their work by 4:00 a.m. Monday. While carrying out the road reblocking, contractors are also obliged to ensure that the affected roadways will remain passable, clear and serviceable to all vehicles and pedestrians. He also said signages bearing the name and contact numbers of the contractor must be posted at the work site. Road reblocking sites The MMDA Traffic Engineering Center identified five unfinished road reblocking sites:

  • EDSA near Trinoma southbound
  • Congressional Road near Cherry Foodarama
  • EDSA near Ayala Ave. southbound
  • Osmeña Highway between Magallanes to Zobel St. northbound
  • North Avenue (EDSA to Elliptical Road). - VVP, GMA News
