Rookie Ray Parks to receive MVP as UAAP honors top cagers


National University’s Bobby Ray Parks will receive his Most Valuable Player trophy Saturday during the UAAP awarding ceremony before Game 2 of the UAAP men’s basketball finals between Ateneo and FEU. Parks will be honored along with 14 other players who excelled this season in the men’s, women’s and juniors divisions. The awarding ceremony starts at 1:30 p.m. Parks will also be part of the Mythical Five along with Ateneo players Greg Slaughter and Kiefer Ravena, Adamson’s Alex Nuyles and FEU’s Aldrech Ramos. Ravena is also this season’s Rookie of the Year. FEU’s Raiza Palmera bagged the women’s division MVP and will be joined by teammate Allana Lim, La Salle’s Aracelie Abaca, Adamson’s Anna Buendia and NU’s Kristina Tolentino in the Mythical Five. NU’s Gemma Miranda will be awarded the women’s Rookie of the Year. Jerie Pingoy of FEU-Nicanor Reyes Educational Foundation will likewise be handed the coveted individual award, the juniors MVP. He was named to the Mythical team together with Ateneo’s Kristoffer Porter, NU’s Raphael Atangan, and La Salle-Zobel’s Alex Torres and Gabriel Reyes.
