LRTA: Power failure stops MRT 3 operations

Manila Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Line 3 operations were suspended at 10:50 a.m. Saturday due to "power failure affecting the automatic signalling system," said Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) spokesperson Hernando Cabrera. Cabrera posted the announcement on his Twitter account. "Technicians [are] working double time to bring back to operational status the MRT 3 signalling system," he said in another tweet. Cabrera did not give a definite time for the resumption of operations, but MRT 3 general manager Honorio Vitasa told GMA News reporter Jam Sisante that MRT management has yet to figure out what caused the intermittent power supply. Vitasa, however, said that operations were not likely to resume until 5 a.m. the next day (Sunday). — Bea Cupin/LBG, GMA News
