PAGASA: 3 dams along Agno River spill water as Quiel storms through

Ten Pangasinan towns are in the path of water released from three dams in the Agno River Basin to make way for rainfall from Typhoon “Quiel" flood forecasters of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Saturday evening. Two spill gates of the San Roque dam were lifted by two meters to let out water that breached the dam’s normal water level of 280 meters, PAGASA said via Twitter.

Quiel was earlier forecast to dump 100 to 150 millimeters of estimated total rainfall over San Roque Dam catchment areas from 8 a.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday. Also opened were five spill gates of the Binga dam and seven gates of the Ambuklao dam. These two dams are in Benguet province and are within the Agno River Basin. — ELR, GMA News
