Filipino killed in UAE car crash


A Filipino was killed after his car hit a metallic divider and plunged into the water in Khalid Port in the United Arab Emirates Friday night, a report said Sunday. The man was speeding and lost control of his car before the incident, according to a report posted Sunday on news site Khaleej Times. Sharjah police have yet to identify the person, the report added. An initial investigation showed the man was speeding on the ports road, lost control of the car and suddenly plunged into the water. Police and ambulances reached the scene in less than five minutes and pulled the car from water. The man was already dead when his body was removed. The report quoted police as saying "large quantities" of alcohol was found in his car. But it was not immediately clear if the Filipino drunk at the time of the accident. The body has been shifted to the Sharjah Police Forensic laboratory. — LBG, GMA News
