QC on alert vs 'botcha' meat from flood-hit Central Luzon

Health authorities in Quezon City have intensified their watch against tainted "botcha" (double-dead) meat from provinces in Central Luzon that were hit by recent typhoons "Pedring" (Nesat) and "Quiel" (Nalgae). Quezon City health authorities ordered teams to monitor markets where the tainted meat could be brought, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported. The teams were instructed to watch out for meat particularly from Bulacan province, where hogs and poultry died in the floods, the report said. Among the public markets being closely watched is the Balintawak Market where some vendors previously caught selling tainted meat, the report added. Central Luzon provinces including Bulacan, Tarlac and Pampanga were swamped by floods last weekend because of the two recent typhoons. - VVP, GMA News
