NDRRMC: 68 bridges, roads in Luzon impassable due to 'Pedring'


At least 68 bridge and road sections in four regions in Luzon remained impassable in the wake of Typhoon Pedring (Nesat), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tuesday. In its 6 a.m. update, the NDRRMC said these include six in Ilocos, 31 in Cagayan Valley, 18 in Central Luzon, and 13 in Cordillera. The NDRRMC said Pedring affected 608,790 families or 2,832,367 people in 3,284 villages in 302 towns and 41 cities in 34 provinces. Of these, 45,489 families or 206,381 people are being served in 483 evacuation centers. The death toll remained at 55, with 65 injured and 28 missing. Damage to property remained at P8.803 billion, including P1.249 billion in infrastructure and P7.554 billion in agriculture. A total of 6,141 houses were destroyed and 36,971 houses were damaged. Typhoon Quiel Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said the death toll from tropical cyclone "Quiel" (Nalgae) remained at four, with three still missing. In its report, the NDRRMC said Quiel affected 91,119 families or 417,737 people in 825 villages in 91 towns and six cities in 16 provinces. Of these, 6,894 families or 27,205 people are being served in 172 evacuation centers. — RSJ, GMA News
