14 fishermen missing off Palawan — Coast Guard


The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has begun looking for 14 fishermen from Zambales province who set sail last week off Palawan but have yet to return. PCG spokesperson Lieutenant Commander (Lcdr) Algier Ricafrente said the fishermen were on board FB Brandon Ice and came from Barangay Calapacuan in Subic, Zambales last Sept. 27 at about 9 a.m. Authorities later declared them missing after a certain Boyet Paniza alerted local Coast Guard officials in Subic that the group has not yet returned since last week. The missing fishermen were identified as:

  • Janito Maure, 36 years old, captain of the vessel;
  • Anecito Maure, 80;
  • Loreto Maure, 54;
  • Bonnie Dedosin, 33;
  • Ronnie Apron, 30;
  • Alejandro Medida, 27;
  • Joel Ombasen, 26;
  • Angelo Palmietera, 23;
  • Jokmar Maure, 21;
  • Johnny Logo, 21;
  • Renato Abaigar, 21;
  • Nico Jumao-as, 20;
  • a certain Jun; and
  • an unidentified fisherman. All missing fishermen are from Barangay Calapacuan, the Coast Guard said. Authorities said the group's fishing vessel is 40-foot long and is painted orange with a blue stripe. Deployed to look for the fishermen were personnel from the Coast Guard District National Capital Region-Central Luzon (CGDNCR-CL). — Mark Dalan Merueñas/KBK, GMA News
