House fetes Shamcey for Miss Universe feat

The House of Representatives on Tuesday honored Shamcey Supsup for her third runner-up finish at this year’s Miss Universe pageant held last month in Brazil. The chamber passed House Resolution 167 congratulating Supsup, who was described as “a true embodiment of a Filipino woman." “The accomplishment of Ms. Shamcey Supsup showcases to the world the ideals, values and ideals of the Filipino people," the resolution read. House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. handed Supsup, who was clad in beige corporate wear, a copy of the recognition at the chamber’s plenary hall. Several congressmen and members of their staff took turns in taking pictures with Supsup and shaking the beauty queen’s hand after she was handed the recognition. Last September 13, Supsup was adjudged third runner-up in the 60th Miss Universe pageant held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The crown went to Miss Angola Leila Lopes. Supsup, 25, graduated from the University of the Philippines-Diliman as magna cum laude with a degree in architecture. She also topped the Architecture Licensure Exam last July. — Andreo C.
