HP Touchpad makes brief return to sales page
The TouchPad, HP's discontinued tablet, made a brief comeback on the vendor's website this week, a tech site reported Tuesday (Manila time). CNET said it was the first time in more than a month that HP offered the TouchPad, liquidated in August for $99, for sale. According to the CNET report, the 32-GB model was made available for $249.99. It went up again later in the day. But in both cases, the item quickly became unavailable. The TouchPad had briefly gained popularity after HP announced it would discontinue its WebOS hardware business and liquidated its TouchPad inventory starting at $99.99 for the 16GB version - a $300 discount. The CNET report said the 16GB model is now listed for $219.99 on HP's sales page, about $120 more than the original $99 liquidation price. It was also out of stock, the CNET report added. On the other hand, CNET said Amazon indicates stock for both models. As of Monday night, the 32GB model is going for about $260 new and the 16GB version for about $230, it said. — TJD, GMA News
