Facebook lifts 'Like' limit for vanity URLs
Users of social networking giant Facebook who want to create a vanity or customized URL can now do so without having to earn at least 25 âLikes," a tech site reported. Facebook quietly removed the 25-Like limit for users to register a shorter and easier-to-remember unique Facebook URL, The Next Web reported. The Next Web said Facebook appeared to have removed the limitation some weeks back, with a YouTube user noticing the change at the time. However, it said Facebook did not immediately make an announcement about the change. It said it tested the registration process and was able to set up a new page and unique URL âwithin seconds." It said such a change will likely enable brands, charities and other organizations to instantly share their new Page creations, âwithout having to share an ugly link." This would be a good move by the worldâs largest social network to increase participation on its service, it added. Facebook has been rolling out changes in past weeks, even as it faces a challenge from search giant Googleâs upcoming social network Google+. â TJD, GMA News
