Pinay in UK murdered by her partner with a hammer

A Filipino woman in the United Kingdom was found dead after her partner allegedly hit her on the head repeatedly with a hammer on September 30, the Surrey Comet reported. Charito Cruz, 39, a caregiver, was allegedly murdered by her 29-year-old partner. Cruz's family and friends are currently holding a novena, a nine-day private devotion, for the deceased at a Catholic Church in New Malden, not far from where she was killed. Surrey Comet quoted the organizer of the novena, Oliver Abasolo, as saying, “This will be our tribute to her. This is our culture and the way we do things when someone dies. It is our belief that we have to offer prayers for the soul. We can’t do anything now but to pray." Abasolo said Cruz's friends are praying not only for the victim but her family as well, especially her two-year-old daughter. Cruz's brother Roberto, who lived in Kingston but recently moved to Australia, and her parents in the Philippines have been informed about her death, the Surrey Comet said. At 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, a Eucharistic Mass for the Dead take place at the Saint Pius Church, led by a Filipino priest. - VVP, GMA News
