Apple seeds iOS5 to developers

Apple Inc. released to developers the "Gold Master" version of its iOS 5 operating system for mobile devices, one week before its official release on Oct. 12. Tech site The Next Web said the iOS 5 beta was made available for download now on the Apple Developer site, but only for those with a developer account. "This new version of iOS 5 contains features of iOS like iMessages, Twitter, Setup and Notification Center, iCloud and alerts. It also contains the Siri assistant feature announced today, but that is compatible only with Apple’s iPhone 4S, a new device being released on October 14th and available for pre-order on October 7th," it said. It said the iOS 5 beta build is version 9A334. On the other hand, it said Apple has also released Xcode 4.2 Gold Master build 4D199 to developers. A separate article on CNET said one of the most hyped features of iOS 5 is one exclusive to the newly launched iPhone 4S - an AI voice control system that comprehends what a user is saying. "Siri is still in beta and will be available to iPhone 4S users at launch on October 14. Unfortunately it will not be included in the iOS 5 update for iPhone 4 users or earlier devices," it said. — TJD, GMA News
