Report: Man held for 'raping' 60-year-old in Negros Occ

A 60-year-old woman said to be mentally ill accused her neighbor of raping her in Granada village in Bacolod City last weekend, police said. Bacolod police Women and Children’s Complaints Desk head Inspector Jovy Cabcaban told online news site The Visayan Daily Star that the victim reported her ordeal only last Tuesday. Cabcaban said the supposed victim claimed her neighbor, 45, went into her house when her brother went out to the rice field last Saturday. The suspect is now detained at the Bacolod City Police Station 5 but refused to talk with the police about the accusations against him. Supposedly corroborating the 60-year-old's claim was a witness who passed by the victim's house. Cabcaban said the witness saw the victim standing and leaning on the wall, naked, while the suspect was molesting her. The witness went to the rice field and informed the victim’s brother, who rushed to their house and caught the suspect in the act. Angered, the victim’s brother mauled the suspect, who happened to be his close friend and drinking buddy. He then called the police to arrest the suspect. — LBG, GMA news
