Police: 4 hurt in 4-vehicle smashup in Quezon

Four people were reported injured in a four-vehicle smashup along the national highway in Quezon province early Thursday, police said. Tayabas police head Superintendent Ronnie Miralles said the incident occurred at 6 a.m. at the Lucena-bound (southbound) part of the highway. "So far naman wala tayong nabalitang namatay. Apat ang sugatan at dinala sa medical center (So far no one was reported killed. Four were injured and brought to a nearby medical center)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said the incident occurred at the portion of the highway in Sabang village in Tayabas. Citing initial reports reaching him, he said the vehicles involved included a closed van, an Elf-type truck, a Honda sedan, and a motorcycle. "Natumbok ng closed van ang kotse then tumama sa Elf then tumama sa motorsiklo (The van hit the sedan, which hit the Elf, which in turn hit the motorcycle)," Miralles said. The vehicles involved were heading toward Lucena at the time, he said. — RSJ, GMA News
