Nominations now open for Jose Rizal youth awards for Fil-Ams

Nominations are now open for outstanding Filipino-American students for the "Dr. Jose Rizal Youth Awards" in the metropolitan Washington D.C. area in the United States. Now on its 19th year, the award recognizes Fil-Am student achievers who showed exemplary academic performance and social responsibility. In a news release, the Philippine Embassy in Washington D.C. said, "This is an annual project of the Philippine American Foundation for Charities (PAFC), Inc. and supported by the Embassy of the Philippines." "This year, the Philippines commemorates the 150th birth anniversary of the country’s national hero," the embassy said. Those who wish to make nominations must accomplish nomination forms and submit other requirements to the awards committee at 5213 Heming Avenue, Springfield, VA 22151. The deadline for nominations will be at noon of November 12 this year. The awarding ceremony will be held on November 19 at the Philippine Embassy. - VVP, GMA News
