Pacquiao wraps up Baguio training camp to resume preparation at Wild Card gym

Manny Pacquiao's high altitude training in Baguio ends on Friday as the camp of the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion moves to the trainer Freddie Roach's Wild Card gym in Los Angeles. Team Pacquiao will leave for Los Angeles over the weekend. Pacquiao's entire entourage will return to Manila after Friday's training camp. Baguio City, the country's Summer Capital, was the site of Team Pacquiao's three-week training camp at the Shape Up gym inside the Cooyesan Hotel, which was disrupted by typhoons Pedring and Quiel. Pacquiao will still host his weekly variety game show Manny Many Prizes at GMA 7 on Saturday before leaving for the US for the second and crucial phase of his preparation for a November 12 meeting with Mexican rival Juan Manuel Marquez. Roach, Pacquiao's trainer, is pleased overall with the way training camp went in the City of Pines. "Manny did good here. We made sure that his feet got wet here," Roach said as quoted by former North Cotabato governor Manny Piñol. Pacquiao and Roach will be joined by physical and conditioning coach Alex Ariza, cornermen Buboy Fernandez and Nonoy Neri, and sparring partner Jorge Linares in the trip to the U.S. Pacquiao even went seven rounds with Linares in his final sparring session in Baguio Thursday. "We will have 100 more rounds of sparring (in the Wild Card gym)," Roach told Piñol. — JVP, GMA News
