Police: 2 killed, 23 hurt in Maguindanao ambush

At least two people were reported killed while 23 were wounded after armed men fired on a convoy of passenger vehicles in Maguindanao province before dawn Friday. Datu Odin Sinsuat town police head Inspector Lendsey Sinsuat said the incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. at Labungan village.
"Dalawa ang patay, 23 ang sugatan. Bale convoy ito ng malaking sasakyan puro pampasahero. Nang dumaan sa area pinara sila more or less 30 armed men. Siguro hindi nag-stop (ang driver) nang nakitang may armas," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. The fatalities were not immediately identified, he said. Citing initial reports reaching him, Sinsuat said the vehicles were heading for Cotabato at the time of the incident. He said authorities are still trying to get leads on the identities of the assailants. He also said they are still trying to determine the motive for the incident. — LBG, GMA News
