1 dead in Quezon City carjack attempt

At least four armed men killed a driver in what police suspect to be a botched carjacking attempt in Quezon City early Friday. The driver, identified only as Albert, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of the body, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. But the suspects failed to get the blue Mitsubishi Adventure Asian utility vehicle the victim was driving, the report said.

An initial investigation showed the incident occurred in Quezon City's Cubao district, when the suspects aboard two motorcycles tried to take the vehicle at gunpoint. The driver tried to fight back but was shot. He was rushed to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center but died before doctors there could treat him. But the armed men fled without taking the vehicle, after members of the household came out of the house. Police recovered shells from 9-mm firearms at the crime scene, the same radio report said. — RSJ, GMA News
