Sony Ericsson launches new Xperia phones

Sony Ericsson introduced the Xperia active and Xperia ray on Friday, rounding out the range of Xperia smartphones to be made available during the holiday season. Joined by Xperia PLAY, launched earlier this week, the phones were showcased in Sony Ericsson's 3D Expo in SM North Edsa Cyberzone held between October 7-9. The Xperia ray, Xperia active and Xperia PLAY all run on the Android operating system and share common features such as the 3D Sweep Panorama, which enables capturing of images that are translated into 3D and can be projected through a compatible 3D TV, and Timescape, which centralizes communication from across different platforms (e.g. sms, email, Facebook) into a single application. Xperia ray features an 8.1-megapixel camera, a 3.3-inch touchscreen, a black scratch-resistant front face with touch keys. On the other hand, Xperia active is handy, compact, and seems to be ideal for sporty people: it is dust-proof, scratch-resistant, water-resistant, and supports wet-finger tracking. It has a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and pre-installed sports apps such as the iMapMyFitness. "Both handsets provide unique propositions that will appeal to different consumers searching for the right handset this holiday season," said Sony Ericsson General Manager Dennis Manzano. — TJD, GMA News
