2 suspected carjackers killed in encounter

Two of at least three suspected carjackers were killed in an encounter with police in Cavite province before dawn Saturday. Police said the suspects were about to hijack a trailer truck when a police patrol team chanced upon them, radio dzBB reported. A manhunt is ongoing for at least one motorcycle-riding gang member who managed to elude arrest during the firefight. The report cited initial information reaching Cavite police intelligence Superintendent Romeo Baleros that said the slain suspects were riding in a Lancer-type vehicle. Initial investigation showed the suspects in the Lancer blocked the path of a trailer truck at Daang Hari Road in Imus town, and fired at the truck's tires.
